Woodworking Software?
I'm building a page for my website and was wanting to get some of your suggestions. 1. What is a good cabinet design software program for a small to medium sized (home) woodshop? - wow bud, you asked a question i have been trying to answer for some time now. i have searched in vain for just this sort of software to avail. i did find what was touted as a home user version of Cad at circuit city but didn't buy it. i figured if I'm going to learn a home version of Cad (computer aided design......but I'm sure you knew that already), i might as well learn the real thing. wish i could be more help.
- To present cabinet plans to clients? Most kitchen designers use software called 20/20. You could also use Softplan or AutoCad. All are relatively expensive. There are Lite versions of the latter two, that can be purchased for under $1000. Not sure about 20/20. Even so, it is a major investment, so if this is a part-time job or hobby, then they probably are not worth the investment. You can try EBay or similar auction site to find used software. Just be sure the price includes license. As far as designing for yourself, paper and pencil. In fact, that how I start design projects. If it doesn't need to be presented, the design rarely makes it to the computer.
- Are you looking for a program that does the design automatically? If so, you'd better get a bank loan, that sort of thing isn't going to be cheap. A very powerful but easy to use program that can also do 3D if you want to. It isn't really that expensive.
