Can a gold wedding band that has been cut off a finger be repaired?

My husband had his ring cut off in the emergency room after an accident with woodworking tools. His finger is fine.Several years have passed. The ring has a clean cut. Can it be repaired? If so, what might it cost?

  1. yes and not very much its not much different then resizing they cut it
  2. Yes, they can melt the gold and fit it into a new molding and it'll be good as new. I'm not sure on the cost, but my friend who owns a jewelry store did it for me for free...
  3. yes, it would be the same process as re sizing it, they just have to heat it up. it will probably cost anywhere between $30 - $80 depending on where you live and where you go go have it done.
  4. Not sure of the cost but any goldsmith can make it look like it was never cut off...should not be astronomical either.
  5. yes they can weld gold
  6. Yes. Go to a local jewlery store, they will give you an estimate.
  7. yes....about ten bucks at the jewelers
  8. It can absolutely be repaired. Take it to 4-5 jewelers and get an estimate from each.
  9. It can be repaired . Just take it to a reputable jeweler and ask for a quote. It shouldnt be too expensive.
  10. yep. all they have to do is melt it back together like they do when they resize a ring
  11. It can be repaired just go to your local jewlery store. I'm not sure about the price considering prices are different in all different areas but Ive had a ring break and I live in Virginia. I dont remember the exact price but I do remember it was around 150-200 dollars. Hope this helps some.
  12. Sure. Gold melts at a relatively low temperature. That's how they enlarge a ring, by cutting it and adding molten gold to fill the gap. Any jeweler can repair it.
  13. A good jeweler can fix it for you. It might cost anywhere from $15 on up, but shouldn't be any more than $50. It will take about a week, if the jeweler can't do it in the shop.
  14. yes It can. I actually had to have it done.
  15. Dont know cost but it can be fixed. Í've had rings made smaller and larger. They took out piece of gold or put in another piece and I couldnt tell where it had been done.
  16. yes it most likely can be repaired and resized if needed as long as there isn't a lot of ornate setting/desing on th top and sides. cost will vary depending on cost of gold, jewlery charges etc. glad his finger is fine!!
  17. Yes, it can. I had mine repaired many years ago. Now, I don't know about your country, but in my country we go to a jewelry store to solve this kind of problems and id doesn't cost us too much.
  18. gold is a soft metal, so it could be fixed. a jewler could probably just fuse or weld the ends together and then just polish the line down. as a matter of fact, it could be melted down and reshaped if you really wanted it to be. I don't know what any of this would cost though
