- Good quality tools are not going to be cheap if you buy them new. You might find some good quality used ones at pawn shops, yard sales or flea markets.

- Check for estate sales, garage sales, you would be amazed at what is available. Especially at estate sales. The relatives are just looking to unload everything.
- You can purchase cheap tools and be frustrated by them, or you can invest in good, quality tools, and get years of pleasure from them. My Dad was the best salesman I ever knew. He used to say "If you want to feed your horse good, clean, high quality oats, you're going to have to pay a premium price for them. If you want oats that have already been through the horse, I can get you those a lot cheaper." Keep that in mind.
- After you get good accident insurance, try Harbor Freight or other discount tool retailers. Make sure you get the insurance first as you will need it.
- Try Harbor Freight Tools, I use them for a lot of my tool needs.
- Try "craigslist.com". You can pick up used ones cheap.
- Agree w/ tessa. As far as hand tools go......... Picked up some beautiful old stuff at antique shops & yard sales. Usually odd bits but....... jump on any complete sets such as planes, chisels & any "edged" tools. Nothing better.
