row boat in michigan?
I live in Northern Michigan and I just bought a row boat, I dont plan on putting a motor on it, maybe a electric trolling motor. Do I need to licence it? I am using it for my kids to fish from, in local inland lakes.

- I would say yes. But, go to the local title place and ask. The point is that if you don't have one and the state requires it (like in Ohio where I am) and you are using it and get busted, it will really ruin a fun family day!!! It's worth the invconvenience on the front end. Cheers! Sail on...
- I believe you must register any boat or watercraft on the water with the secretary of state. You could always take the chance and plead ignorance.
- As a row boat ,it doesn't need a license. With an electric trolling motor(any type of mechanical propulsion) it does need to be registered.
