Are there any new products to fill gaps in a woodworking project? I've glued two pieces of wood together after carving it as well as I could to match them up, but there are a couple of gaps I'd like to fill. The trick is I plan to stain the wood and want everything to match? I understand there's putty, but does that harden well enough to be sanded?
Woodworking beginners projects? At first i drew up a design for a pair of speakers but the specificity of the electronics scratched that plan. Then i drew up plans for a pair of sawhorses based off a pair i found online but i don't really have a need for them. What would be a good project(include plans if possible), or should i stick with one of these ideas? ,fmufjdtjdtjdtjdtndtydny Only free plans listed no pay sites plz.

What tools should I take to a beginners woodworking class? This is the class description: Students taking this class will work on a pre-selected project using either hand tools and/or small power tools. The project will include most phases of woodworking skills: cutting, gluing, sanding and assembly. Materials for this project will be furnished, however, students are encouraged to bring their own power or hand tools to use. Any suggestions?
Woodworking project question? I am going to build a changing table/dresser out of some beautiful 1"X8" white oak. The problem is I haven't ever built something strictly from plank wood, usually my projects have come from sheets of plywood. I plan to have open shelving that small baskets sit in, so there are no drawers, but I want to avoid being able to see any kind of frame of a lesser wood. If this makes sense please throw me any ideas you can, they'd be welcomed and greatly appreciated!!

looking for info on stained glass equipment? My husband travels a lot and has time on his hands in the evenings. He wants to put together a kit he can take with him so he can make stained glass projects to compliment my woodworking projects (windows for display cases, decoration for inset mirrors, inlays for desks and entertainment centers) when he's bored. We've never worked with it, so we're starting from scratch. I know not all equipment is created equal, regardless of hobby, so how about some pointers for a beginner?
I am new at woodworking. I need advice on type of blade for a table saw? I have dozens of construction grade 1x6's at the house that I will use in a few beginner furniture-making projects. I bought a table saw, and I am going to trim them down to 1x5 or so before running them through a planer. Should I use the rip blade that came with the table saw, or should I buy a blade with 40 teeth, 60 teeth, or 100 teeth?
Where to get blocks of laminate wood? I am looking for blocks of laminate, birch, maple or walnut, several inches thick for a woodworking project. However all I can find in laminate is flooring material. Can anyone point me to a site where I can find the stock I need? Thank You
HVLP oil based stain and polyurethane? has anybody ever applied oil based stain and/or polyurethane to a woodworking project using a high volume low pressure sprayer? How did it work? Any tips?
Woodworking: Can I use glaze or is there another product I can try on my cabinets? I have cabinets that are finished and sealed, and I believe they are probably veneer. I have read alot about glazing online where the furniture people are using a glaze or other product to change to appearance, and from what I understand, it can be applied without having to sand the project first. From what I've read, most use some sort of CV sealer, then add the colorant on top of this layer. I have natural colored oak type cabinets, just the raw oak color with clear top coat. I would like to darken them considerably, but still allow the grain to show. Would glazing work, or is there some kind of dye I could apply over the finished wood? Even if I had to apply a clear primer, that would be OK, but since the cabinets are partially veneer, it rules out being able to sand and re-stain to change their color. They would not have to be so perfect as to match other things, but, if they could come out with a red cherry to mohogany color, I'd be very pleased. Advice? Info links? By the way, telling me to take them to a pro isn't the advice I am hoping for. I need to do this myself. I am redoing alot of things in my home, and, if I have could information and details, I can do alot of things myself, and that's where the joy comes in for me.

how to make a branding iron? I want to make a branding iron, cost to much to buy one. How do i get started what is the best metal ti use that is easy to shape? I can do basic welding but do not want to. it is a small logo like a money symbol, my initials, SH, in a script font. I am using it for small woodworking projects i do. I wish their was something i could melt and poor into a wood carving that could take the heat from a small torch. Like pour or smear it in, burn off the wood and presto iron. Sounds to easy but i am sure their has to be a relitivly inexpensive way.
Building custom carrying case, where to find padding? I have a little audio mixing board and various accessories that I am going to build a carrying case for out of wood. It's more a woodworking hobbyist type project but I do plan to use it. I want to line the inside with some protective padding to keep it from moving around during transport. Maybe some mini egg crate foam. I've found some stuff around the web but it seems to be commercial/industrial targeted and in quantities I could never use. Any ideas on where I might be able walk in and buy such a thing? I'm drawing a blank.
What is a good summer project for a 15 year old? I'm 15 years old, and a hip injury has stopped me from doing sports for awhile. I was looking at this site called instructables for something to do, but most of the things there could be completed in a day or two. I have quite a bit of technical knowledge[using tools, woodworking, engines, etc] and I was wondering what would be a good challenging project. It needs to be kind of hard, otherwise it's not fun. I was thinking about building one of those hovercrafts that go ten feet above the water, but I have no idea what that really requires. Let me know!
